These are the generations of Adam and Eve, each one being a new alter ego with a different set of characteristics. It can be seen that all of those before Noah were destroyed in the flood, leaving only Noah and his wife and three sons. The flood represents a cleansing of the mind with the removal of all previous alter egos and corrupted creatures.

Note: Seth is born after the generations of Cain.

The only creatures that Noah took into the Arc were Cattle, creeping things and fowl, and each had to possess life, which means that they must be animated by righteous desire. Only two of each were allowed, i.e. one male and one female.
